A brother and sister, she 17 years old and he 23 years old, were witnesses to an unusual event at their rural southern Ohio home at the intersection of Big Rock Road and Limerick Road, approximately four miles northwest of Jackson, Ohio. Two events involving a prop-like sound and strange lights in the sky occurred, one at 10 p.m. and the other between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 1996.

The first was detected only by sound. The witnesses were inside the house and they heard what sounded like a large prop-driven plane fly low over the house. While the sounds of aircraft are not unusual in the area, the sounds are usually either from jet aircraft or from small private propeller driven airplanes. This sounded different. Half an hour or so later they heard the sound again and ran outside to see what it was from.

Naturally it was dark. What they saw didn’t appear to be an aircraft. They could see only a long line of green lights covering a linear area longer than a football field. The lights were alternately large and small, with the smaller light appearing the size of a star. There were a number of these lights; they did not count them. The space between the lights was the same. At the rear of the formation, based upon the direction of flight, was one very bright red light. None of the lights were flashing. Since it was dark and no structure could be seen behind the lights, although the witnesses had the impression that they were a part of something quite large.

The lights traveled from east to west and were in view for perhaps a minute or so before they passed over a hill. The loud propeller like sound, which shook the windows of the house, was heard during the entire event. They described their feelings while the event occurred as "awed" and "shocked." The sister, however, said that she hopes "it will come back." She wants to see it again.

A few minutes later as they stood outside they noticed four dots of pale yellow light very high over the valley they live in. One came north to south, one south to north, one east then curving north, and one east to west. They were not flashing and they made no sound. As they traveled away from each other they got smaller until they seemed to go out of sight. This sighting lasted approximately two to three minutes. They said they had no idea what the lights were and couldn’t say that they were in any way connected to the earlier sighting. They just thought they ought to mention these lights because they seemed unusual.
