On August 20, 1993 the Director of the Geography Department of the University of Salamanca, Spain saw a strange aerial phenomena in northwest Spain. He and fifteen other people were watching a meteor shower at approximately 3:00 AM when they the display stopped briefly. The meteors had seemed to be falling from the same direction "in waves." During this lull they saw a "bar of light" fall in a zigzag pattern perpendicular to the direction of the meteor falls. No structure or form could be seen within the light. The light was clear, "not fuzzy", with a light bluish color; the meteors were not blue. The light was seen in the southwestern sky. After a few seconds the light disappeared and the meteor shower resumed. There are no lakes or air bases in the area.
On December 7, 1993 between 8:30 and 9:00 PM a Spanish Air Force officer, who had been assigned to the Spanish NATO Command in 1990 and 1991, saw a solid white, pure, and brilliant light that he couldn't explain while he was driving on Highway 4 south of Toledo, Spain. It was four to five times larger than a star. No structure could be seen, but the officer said that it seemed "incredibly solid." The light moved directly above and in front of his line of vision. It was moving rapidly in a straight line and then changed direction. It blinked four to six times in about one-half second as it passsed through clouds. It then disappeared as it continued to travel in a straight line toward the horizon. The sighting lasted for two to three seconds. The officer had never seen anything like it before.
